Stage Run Subdivision
Sustainable Design for a Residential Community
San Antonio, TexasSustainable Design for a Residential Community
Vickrey & Associates (V&A) is committed to providing energy efficient, low-impact civil engineering
site designs for residential communities throughout Texas. KB Home’s Stage Run community is an
excellent example of this commitment. The Stage Run Subdivision is a small lot single family
subdivision nestled within the Texas Hill Country’s beautiful oak trees conveniently located
near Boerne Stage Road and IH-10. V&A was responsible for platting, street and drainage design
including two water quality basins, water and sanitary sewer design, and design plans for a
bridge crossing over Leon Creek connecting to Boerne Stage Road. V&A applied innovative civil
engineering site designs to preserve many of the natural resources and existing wildlife habitats
of the original site. Working closely with the client, V&A engineers identified key areas in
which to preserve trees and developed strategies to minimize cut and fill through the lots and
streets. V&A also incorporated natural materials, erosion prevention techniques, and water detention
ponds to minimize the impact of development on the environment. V&A laid out the entry road with
medians designed to enhance the natural beauty of the site for visitors as they approach
neighborhood recreational areas, including a park, playground, swimming pool and basketball
court. V&A designed the drainage systems to meander through the trees to preserve the pureness
of the land and established interceptor berms to capture offsite drainage flows with minimal
disturbance to the trees and soil.
