Fort Sam Houston Survey
Vickrey & Associates, Inc. recently completed several major surveying projects at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas as part of the Federal BRAC program.
  • Topographic and utility survey of approximately 63.3 acres for the IMCOM campus to provide data for the design of an extension of Reynolds Road, south of Wilson, multiple large parking areas, and the development of large office buildings. V&A’s responsibilities included locating and field verifying existing Ft. Sam Geodetic Control and establishing project control. Topographic survey included design-level data collection including visible utilities, visible improvements, manhole measure-downs, grade breaks, all trees, and detailed photographs of utilities. Survey data was completed in accordance with United States Corps of Engineers Engineering Manuals.
  • Topographic and utility surveying of approximately 9500’ linear feet by up to 150 feet wide of the METC Campus. The topographic data is to be used to design the troop walks throughout the METC Campus.
  • Complete construction staking services for the development of a 132,000 sq. ft. medical clinic. V&A first reestablished the horizontal and vertical project control, which was found to be out of tolerance, then carefully staked 164 piers for this facility, provided certified results as to their as-built location, and staked all wet and dry utilities, storm drainage, parking and paving.
  • Complete construction staking services for the development of a 20,000 sq. ft. youth activity center. V&A reestablished the horizontal and vertical project control which had been destroyed. The vertical control was established by differential leveling. V&A carefully staked the building foundation lines from which dozens of piers were offset and also staked all wet and dry utilities, storm drainage, parking and paving. To finalize the project, an as-built survey was prepared with elevations and submitted to the general contractor.
