9/11/10 New Soccer Fields launched at McAllister Park

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 11, 2010) – Thanks to Bexar County’s Community Venues Program, the City of San Antonio has six new soccer fields for youth soccer games and tournament play. Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Commissioner Kevin Wolff, and City of San Antonio District Councilperson Elisa Chan opened the new fields with a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 11th, 2010. Speakers, including Classics Elite President, Marco Barros, praised the community’s commitment to youth athletics through a $1.2 million contribution from the Bexar County Community Venues Program. The soccer fields, located at McAllister Park, will be managed by the Classics Elite Soccer Academy and will attract visitors to our community from around the US.

Members from Vickrey & Associates, Inc., the Project Manager and Civil Engineer on the project, were also on hand to represent the firm and answer questions about the new development. V&A’s responsibilities included project management, design of the field layout and parking facilities, as well as water, sewer and drainage improvements.

The project, which covers 28.5 acres of City-owned park land, includes six full-size soccer fields designed according to U.S. Soccer regulations and guidelines. The project was completed within budget and on-time.
